Goliath Bird Eating Tarantula

The Goliath Bird Eating tarantula lives in the tropical forests of South America.  They are the largest species of tarantula in the world with a leg span of ten to twelve inches.  The spider is very large and stocky with a hairy, coffee-colored body.  They can live up to twenty-five years.

These spiders are very large and very aggressive. Only experienced collectors should keep these spiders as pets.  Due to their aggressive nature, they should not be handled.

Care Sheet
Because of its size, a thirty gallon tank with a locking screen top is needed for the tarantula’s habitat.  A large shelter for hiding should be provided.  Four to six inches of bed-a-beast or Eco earth substrate should be line the bottom of the tank. A small water dish should be supplied.

Gut-loaded crickets and grasshoppers will make up much of its diet.  Mice should also be provided a couple of times a month.
