In the wild, the Honduran Curly Hair tarantula is found in the rain forests of Costa Rica and Honduras. It has a leg span of 4 ½ to 5 ½ inches. They have a bronze colored body that is covered with short curly hairs.
The spider is a very common pet tarantula. It is easily available from your local pet store. Due to their hardy and docile nature they make a great pet for the beginning collector. They also require little care.
Care Sheet
A five or ten gallon tank with a locking screen top and under-tank heat pad is recommended to house your spider. A shallow water bowl and a hide box should also be placed in the tank. Two to three inches of bed-a-beast or Eco earth should be used as the substrate.
A lamp with a red bulb can be used for light, but is not necessary. Gut-loaded crickets, waxworms, or mealworms comprise the diet of Honduran Curly Hair tarantulas.
